Arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB). Your airport representative and guide meet you for the transfer to Negombo on the west coast. Afternoon at leisure: settle in, use the pool or garden, and recover from your flight. Evening: welcome cocktail, dinner, and a briefing from your tour leader on the route ahead.

After breakfast, drive inland toward the Cultural Triangle base at Habarana. Stop at Umandawa Global Buddhist Village: a peaceful walking monastery with paths, gardens, organic plots and sculptures—ideal for a calm first taste of Sri Lankan Buddhism. Continue to the Dambulla Cave Temple complex (UNESCO), with cave shrines, statues and murals. Complete the journey to Habarana and check in for the next two nights.

Morning: guided village tour near Habarana. Help a local family prepare vegetarian curries and rice, then share the meal together. Witness a simple alms-giving ritual with a village monk, if timing allows. Late afternoon: visit Sigiriya Lion Rock—Sri Lanka's iconic fortress—and climb for views over the plains (pace yourself; steps and heat).

Drive to Kandy, the last capital of the Sinhala kings, in the central hills. En route, visit a spice garden to see (and smell) cinnamon, pepper, cardamom and more. Check into Hotel Casamara. Afternoon free to rest or stroll near the property.

Morning: visit Sri Dalada Maligawa (Temple of the Tooth), one of Buddhism's most revered sites—modest dress and shoe removal required. Lunch at a local restaurant. Long scenic drive to Gal Oya Lake Club on the edge of Gal Oya National Park—a quieter side of Sri Lanka.

After breakfast, take a boat safari on Senanayake Samudraya, Sri Lanka's largest reservoir—birdlife, islands and wide water views. Later, explore with a chief from the indigenous Veddha community: forest paths, medicinal plants, old hunting grounds and cave shelters (respectful, small-group experience).

Optional early walk to Kiri Oruwa Lake for birds and calm light (for those who want an extra start). After breakfast, drive to Ella in the hill country. Afternoon: private tea plantation and factory visit—see withering, rolling and drying, then taste fresh Ceylon tea.

Guided hike of about 8.7 km / 5.4 miles from Ella through forest and along the rail approach to the Nine Arches Bridge (Bridge in the Sky)—roughly 2.5 hours; stops for photos. Tuk-tuk to a local venue for a hands-on cookery session: learn classic Sri Lankan dishes, then eat what you make. Rest of the day at leisure in Ella's cool air.

Drive south toward Yala. En route, visit the Elephant Transit Home near Udawalawe to see how orphaned calves are cared for before release. Continue to Yala National Park. Evening 4x4 safari: leopard country, elephants, crocodiles and open grassland.

Second 4x4 safari in Yala at first light—another chance for leopard and elephant sightings. After breakfast, transfer to Weligama on the south coast: long sandy bay, swimming, beginner surf and snorkel options.

A full day to relax: beach, pool, optional water sports, or cafe-hopping along the shore. Your leader can suggest optional local outings if you want a light activity.

Scenic coastal drive to Galle, a UNESCO World Heritage old town and former trading port (Portuguese and Dutch layers of history). Walking time inside the fort: ramparts, lanes, boutiques and sea views.

Boat safari on the Madu Ganga: mangrove tunnels, river islands and birdlife in a calm wetland setting. Continue to Colombo, Sri Lanka's commercial capital. Short orientation of main sights if time allows. Farewell dinner with your leader at a local restaurant.

Tour ends after breakfast. Transfer to Bandaranaike International Airport for your outbound flight. Ask us if you would like to extend with extra nights in Colombo or the coast.
