Generally a stronger east-coast beach choice around May to September. April and October need a date-specific discussion. Rainfall, sea state and marine activities are never guaranteed by a calendar label.

Travel inland to Kandy with comfort breaks. Leave time to settle into your hotel.
Plan the Temple of the Tooth and a gardens visit according to interest, access and weather. Leave breaks between outings.
Travel north, visiting Dambulla if you wish. Settle into your base for three nights.
Make Sigiriya the main early outing. Add a village meal experience later if you would enjoy it, with time to rest between activities.
Choose Polonnaruwa or a locally appropriate elephant safari. Keep the remainder of the day flexible.
Travel toward Trincomalee and your selected beach base. Keep the arrival afternoon unhurried.
Enjoy your hotel and the coast at your own pace. Swimming depends on local conditions and advice.
Choose a Trincomalee cultural outing, with religious-site etiquette and opening arrangements considered. You can equally keep the day free.
Consider a suitable guided snorkelling or boat excursion only after access, weather and personal suitability checks. A land-based alternative remains possible.
Enjoy a further day without changing hotels. Add an outing if you wish, or enjoy another restful day.
Travel west to Anuradhapura. A short orientation may fit after arrival, with the main heritage visit planned for the following morning.
Choose a focused Anuradhapura visit before travelling to Negombo. Limit the morning scope so there is space for the onward road journey.
Transfer to the airport around your flight. If you prefer fewer cultural stops, the return plan can be revised before quotation.
