Best Time to Visit Sri Lanka – Weather by Month
When to go to Sri Lanka: weather and seasons.
Sri Lanka has two main monsoon seasons, so the best time to visit depends on which part of the island you plan to explore. For the west and south coasts (Colombo, Galle, Mirissa), December–March is dry and ideal. For the east coast (Trincomalee), April–September is best.
The Cultural Triangle (Sigiriya, Kandy) and hill country (Ella, Nuwara Eliya) can be visited year-round, though December–March and July–August are peak. Book early for Christmas and New Year.
